The certificates within the RYA Youth Sailing Scheme are a significant achievement. Instructors sign off each skill as you complete it and once completed your certificate can be of use in other areas of your study or activities such as PE at school, or the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme.

This RYA Youth Stage 3 course will teach you rigging, launching and sailing in any direction. The course includes rigging, launching and recovery, sailing techniques, capsize recovery, and sailing theory. After the course, you will be able to launch and sail a dinghy around a triangle in moderate conditions.

If you are interested in racing then you should consider joining our Junior Race Squad, which meets on a Saturday morning throughout the year.

Please note: two days is the minimum time required to complete the course. The actual time required depends on ability and weather conditions on the day. A certificate will only be issued if you have demonstrated the ability to complete the syllabus inappropriate weather conditions. Our after-school and holiday clubs provide the perfect opportunity to fine-tune your skills.
